Fun Home by Alison Bechdel

“Written in 2006, this is a graphic memoir depicting the complicated childhood of Alison Bechdel. In this work she describes her family life both at home and at the funeral home (aka the Fun Home).

Bechdel allows the audience into the complexities to her queer identity and how it grew with her. She contrasts this “becoming” with the mystery of her father’s queerness, hidden from her until his death.”

In addition to this wonderful graphic memoir, a musical was produced following it’s publication. the soundtrack is definitely worth a listen.
